Ookpikk is the sound of a city growing leaves, the rhythms of a mechanical forest. Melody, loping squiggles, and buzz. Joints not tracks. Staggered grooves, riffs that linger long after the song is after. Psychedelic electronics with authentic bass and fake guitar. Electronic sound is not enough in itself. Acoustic sound is not enough in itself. Only by combining the two may we find a sound that rings true and clear. What if Miles Davis had made On The Corner with Can, produced by Chris Clark? What if Animal Collective collectively stopped singing and let the background grow intricate and present?
